I have seen time and time again some people on Laptops only having 2GBs of RAM installed. Even though this is the case, please make sure that you DO actually have 4GBs of RAM installed. Version 11 and older versions of Vegas Movie Studio can only access a maximum of 4GBs of Memory (RAM). Movie Studio Platinum 12 users have nothing to worry about, because V12 now comes as a 64 bit and 32 bit program. There is no program update available for V10 users. Press here now for Free Update to Version 11 *Please note that Vegas is now owned by Magix Software, so that is why this link is from the Magix website! All you have to do is enter your Serial Number and then press the download link that will appear. Use the link below to get the final build version of Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 11. If you are a V11 user, please make sure that you have upgraded to the latest free build version for the program. Fortunately this problem for 64 bit users was fixed during one of the free Build Updates for Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 - #build 322. In a 720p or 1080p project, this results in Vegas just freezing up. On top of this normal problem that ALL 32 bit programs suffer from, 64 bit users may also experience a glitch in Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 which limits access to the RAM even further - to just a mere 2GBs ! So even if you have more than 4GBs of RAM installed on your 64 bit computer (like 8, 16 or 32GBs), Vegas can only access and use less than 4GBs. When you install a 32 bit program like Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 on a 64 bit computer, it runs in 32 bit compatibility mode. Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 and all older versions of Movie Studio were only 32bit programs, which means they can only utilize a maximum of less than 4GBs of RAM. Specifically, Vegas can have a problem accessing enough RAM (memory) if you have Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum (32 bit) installed on a Windows 64 bit Operating System. Q: Why is Vegas Movie Studio saying "Out of Memory" error, when I have plenty of RAM? Answer: Older versions of Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum were susceptible to a Low Memory Error in particular situations.
